The project is focused on the rehabilitation of the urban area of La Puntilla, in San Jose de Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. The goal is to achieve touristic and local engagement in the Puerto Plata region with a focus on the urban area of La Puntilla. The rehabilitation of the abandoned historic monument in the coast would engage the local community, by providing spaces for recreation and outdoor activities that promote cultural development and physical activities. An amphitheater, outdoor seating, new landscape design, parking and a new street section that re-defines the relationship between cars and pedestrians, will increase the flux of people in the underused area.
